Alarm rings, start of a new day

Shower, breakfast, kiss, hug, wave goodbye

Untouched lunchboxes

Hung backpacks

Empty desks

Ask me how to stomach something so vile

Impossible

Going through the motions

Mentally checked out

Close my eyes and think of them

Most vulnerable being murdered

Nothing is being done to protect them

Incessant Inhumanity

Shameful society

The second I read the breaking news, I felt like throwing up. I had received really good news moments before and all that happiness dwindled in the face of such horrific tragedy. Then came the pictures of them, and I lost it. It’s enraging to live in a world where power and greed take precedent over the well being of our children, the most vulnerable, the most innocent. Holding my breath … will it ever end…
