Apple of My Eye

Train stops, “New York Penn Station”.

A million thoughts swirling in my mind.

Nerves unsettling my concentration.

Funny to think I almost declined.

Top of the stairs, I looked everywhere for you.

At a distance, you saw me first.

Everytime I drive by, I revisit this view.

Swollen with love, you make my heart burst.

Mid Hurricane Sandy, your feelings, you confessed.

I was scared of love but you were patient with me.

My biggest supporter, you bring out my best.

You know how to nourish my soul, and simply let me BE.

But also graciously tell me when I’m wrong.

Together we are a team, together we are strong.

And so honey, I am so glad we patiently waited.

Because look at this beautiful life, together, we have created.

West 33rd St & 7th Avenue, the day I met my soulmate. This poem is a glimpse of what happened that day.

I heard this song this morning on the radio. I looked it up on Apple Music and added it to a couple of playlists. Carole Bayer (what a coincidence right.. ? lol) and Toni Wine are the songwriters. Phil Collins has such a soothing voice. To my husband, I love our “groovy kind of love”. I dedicate it to you.
