Riverfront

River Front

Late June breeze

We walk and talk with so much ease

Noise all around

But you’re the sweetest sound

If only had I let my damn guard down

That very minute I saw you frown

Blood to my head

With every word you said

Loathe and despise that wretched day

Still..not my mind did I betray

Foolish of me to succumb and be numb

Face to face yet still so much space

Potent your gaze, stuck in a daze

Indeed, absolutely an imprint was made

Tethered to my soul, never will this memory fade

This poem was the result of an accumulation of tiny “post its”, something I’ve been doing lately.

If there was a song to set the stage for this poem, it’d be this one.
