Cam Rolling

Embodiment of a movie.

New day, new track.

On loop: throwback.

Taste the words.

Touch the beat.

Run it back: repeat.

Walking on clouds.

Thoughts trekking along.

In sync with this song.

Fading, fleeting, feeling.

Director: M.P Healing.

Growing up, it was these two songs that always made me feel like I was in my own little movie. My mind: the ensemble. My imagination: the setting/storyline. Fast forward, all these years later, they still hold that special meaning. I listened to “Kiss Me” while watching “How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, which introduced me to another enormously important song to me (Feels Like Home - Chantal Kreviazuk). My eleven-year-old self was floored with the lyrics, the melody, and how beautifully it paired with the scene of the movie. As for “Iris”, I have no clear memory of my first time listening to it. Nonetheless, it was in my childhood, that much I remember.

A verse worth pointing out given the premise of this poem:

“And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know, you're alive”

….Mic drop, curtains close. Credits roll.

THE END.
