Oceans Apart

Remember that day we talked and the world stood still?

That path we walked and how we climbed that hill.

Remember that building, the hallways, and lunch time?

The countless invitations that I’d always decline.

Remember the time we went to the town fair?

Nervous and shy.. I didn’t know what to wear.

Remember the times love disappointed you?

You’d vent and vent, but if only you knew…

Remember those moments you cleared your memory of?

I held them tight, foolishly surrendered to love.

But now this love is running dry.

Hope one day you rid yourself of that lie.

And when you see the moon, sunset or the sea.

The first thought in your mind will always be me.

In your soul, our conversations will always remain.

Unresolved feelings you’ve shoved beneath the pain.

And if we run into each other again someday.

It’s ok I will have nothing to say.

For this time will be different, it won’t be the same.

From a distance I will see you, and not call out your name..

Wish you happiness and may life treat you well.

I pen this farewell while listening to Adele.

Cheers to the memory of your voice, your eyes, and that park.

Because it serves me no good to keep loving you in the dark.

This poem came to me when I heard these two songs. I felt like Jimmy Neutron when he would come up with some crazy idea lol.. The verses came to me and I just kept writing and writing. This is what music does to me, sometimes music hits so deep, and hits my creative button and bam… here we are. Hope you enjoyed.
